
Franka Cadée
Franka Cadée PhD, is a proud midwife and international expert in sexual reproductive health and justice. By combining her anthropology midwifery background with having lived and worked across a range of differently resourced countries, she has attained a nuanced, realistic, and humanistic approach to life.
Franka worked as a practising midwife in independent practise in the Netherlands and the UK between 1990 and 2017. She was the President of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) from 2017-2023, and the ICM treasurer from 2002-2008. Franka has played a significant role in many international fora including having been a member of the UNFPA High Level Commission ICPD25plus, an executive Board member of the Partnership for Maternal, New-born and Child Health (PMNCH), a member of the advisory Board Group Care 1000, the chair of the WithWomen Charity, to mention but a few. Franka worked at the Royal Dutch Organisation of Midwives (KNOV) for over 10 years in different capacities including being the ad interim chief midwife in 2022. She has worked as an independent SRHR consultant and has published research on reciprocal partnerships as well as (opinion)papers on political issues pertaining to midwifery, gender issues and sexual and reproductive rights and justice. Since August 2023 Franka is the Director of Global Development at Maternity Foundation in Copenhagen.
